Kenyan long-distance runner Abel Kiprop Mutai was a few meters away from the finish line, but got confused by the signals and stopped, thinking he had finished the race. Finally, the farmer decided that the donkey was old and the well was already dry and needed to be covered anyway — it really wasn't worth pulling the donkey out of the well.
