Superheroes are Supers Because...

In a leadership training seminar for kids that I facilitated just recently, I asked the participants their favorite superheroes and "what makes them a super" - I was expecting a recitation of superpowers and unique abilities like super speed, heat vision, flight, super strength, invulnerability, etc., but what they gave me was surprisingly the answers that I was leading them into.

"they help people"

"they're kind"

"they inspire"

"they're courageous"

"they are strong (inside and out)"

"they always fight for what is right"

Superheroes are supers, not because of their superpowers, they're supers because of who they are even without their superpowers.

It's the same with being a good leader. CHARACTER is everything. Your title or rank means nothing if the foundation on which it was built is corroded.
